Giving Back: Spreading the Holiday Cheer

T’is the season of giving back and being thankful for all of the wonderful people and blessings we have in our lives. What better way to give back than to spread joy to those who need it most? There are many opportunities to give back, support the community and spread holiday cheer throughout San Diego County. Some ideas of ways you can help the local San Diego community are listed below:

  • Act like an Elf: There are many donation stations around San Diego County where you can drop off gifts for less fortunate children and help put a smile on their faces. Father Joe’s Village Toy Drive is collecting gifts for local homeless children this holiday season and runs until January 8th. For gift ideas, drop-off locations, and more information visit fatherjoesvillages.org.
  • Volunteer Your Time: Sadly, 1 in 5 families in San Diego struggle with hunger do not know where their next meal will come from. Feeding America needs volunteers to help sort, package, and distribute food to those who need it most this holiday season. Sign up at https://feedingamericasd.volunteerhub.com/
  • Donate Food: San Diego Food Bank’s Holiday Food Drive is in full-force this holiday season and it is easier than ever to donate, just drop off nonperishable food items at any San Diego County Vons or Stater Bros. supermarket locations anytime until December 31st. The collected food will be distributed through San Diego Food banks 350 partner charities.
